This is an exceptionally attractive, colourful book, with an absolutely enchanting cover, in the fascinating format of a coffee table book, was published by Ritana Books in association with the Indian Air Force. This book is again available due to popular demand.
Most of the photos are taken by India’s ace Pilot-Aviation photographers, Wing Commander A P Mote, Manoj Kumar and others. Many of these photos are published and seen for the very first time, especially the ones, depicting the spectacular but dangerous and desolate grandeur of Siachen Operations. The view of relief and rescue operations, the verticle climb of Mirage 2000, seems miraculous. The front-line aircraft of the Indian Air Force, including the Su-30 carrying out various operational tasks, leap out of the pages. These come as a pleasant and reassuring revelation of the strength and scope, magnitude and magnificence of our Air Arm, which is the fourth largest in the world and covered itself with glory in the recent “Kargil Conflict,” makes us feel good. The thrill of adventure photography is a sight to behold.
The book has fairly comprehensive and very interesting history of the IAF, compiles by keen IAF historian Squadron Leader R K Pal. This is illustrated with some rare historic colour and black and white photos.
